WEDDING EXPERIENCE 014 – JUNE’20 edition

This was the culmination of a 3month marathon. Our sweet bride was very busy with work and mostly traveling the world so even getting our first meet was a great hustle. As for our groom, we’ll call him Mr.PartyJ coz boy didn’t he know how to eat life with a big spoon?!๐Ÿ˜…

Planning this wedding was so much fun together with the strong committee made up of great friends and a very serious big brother (unajijua)๐Ÿ˜ if only we could afford your 6figure๐Ÿ’ต salary, you would be one of our lead planners bila interview ๐Ÿ˜‰
Let’s jump right into it…

  • WEDDING MONTH : Late June
  • CHURCH VENUE:  Consolata Shrine
  • RECEPTION VENUE: Westlands
  • THEME: Simple Classic
  • PAX: 750 Adults

My day started at 5am with the usual tradition of committing the day to the Almighty God then sending a reassuring message to my SweetBrideC (she knows why I call her sweet๐Ÿ˜‰) and a call to our Mr.PartyJ to make sure he remembered that this was his wedding day, after a crazy night with the boys ๐Ÿ™†

Most of the work had been done the previous day since the church ceremony was indoors therefore the D-day was abit relaxed but my antennaes ๐Ÿ“ป were up ready to handle any suprises from my party couple.

We started in buruburu with the car decorations as I went to see my SweetBrideC and make sure that she’s in good moods and ready to be a wife๐Ÿ‘ฐ

The ladies were all ready by 7:00am and by the time mum was putting the veil, there was a cocktail of emotions in the room and some of us who are very emotional couldn’t help but grab tissues.

But checkout those nails.. ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ”ฅ

The bridal party looked amazing in their royal blue long elegant gowns ready to shtep๐Ÿ’ƒ and their energy was on another level. They really livened up the house, what would we do without these beauties?๐Ÿ˜˜

The main boys club arrived right on time to whisk our SweetBrideC away to meet her prince charming at the feet of christ.

All cars were meant to be at buruburu shopping center at 6:30am for decor then the groom’s car to be released first to go to Athiriver to pick the groom as the others go to Buru estate to start the bridal entourage, but the groom’s car was a no-show. (this things happen and you’ve got to choose which battles to dwell on and fight๐Ÿ’ช)  for me, provided we were in talks with the groom and he was ready to go to church, the car was the least of our problems. So Mr.PartyJ just took his personal car and drove himself and the boys to church.

The church was all ready and guests started streaming in as from 9:30am for the 10oclock mass. Catholics need to teach the rest of the kenyan population on the essence of keeping time mostly when it comes to church services ๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ™Œ I salute you guys

This was my first time setting up in a catholic church and it was enlightening realising how catholic faithfuls treat their house of worship with so much reverence.๐Ÿ™ (it was an eye opener) I recall how the priest had to be there during rehearsals to elaborate on the to-dos and the do-nots.

With all the rules and regulations which i couldn’t grasp in a day, we agreed with Mr.Bigbrother ๐Ÿ˜‰ that he will be the one coordinating at church since he’s born & bred there then i’ll just be hanging around to arrest any zima-moto situation that arises.

I can’t really narrate on what happened at church, but our photographer gave us a feel of the happiness that resonated in the room.

I can’t share the joke, but it seems the priest really cracked guys up while he kept his cool.๐Ÿ‘ณ

And even after the unveiling, guys were still laughing. I’ll have to look for this video to know whether it was the priest who was funny or my crew was just high on something else ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Don’t they make a cute couple?!๐Ÿ˜ all sacred.

That was my cue to rush to the reception side. I was in talks with my team and so I knew that all was going on well on ground.

/All was well at the reception venue, all service providers had set up as agreed. and by 12:30pm we were ready for the guests. ๐Ÿ™†except for the cake which wasn’t on ground and I knew the guests are now on their way from church.

The cake was a donation from a relative and with such you don’t push too much otherwise you might cause tension in the family ties ๐Ÿ˜Ž

So even though I was boiling inside, I garner all calmness that had been saved up for the month and call our dear auntie asking how come the cake tent is empty whereas guests will be arriving soon.

AuntyNice: Wacha uongo, niko church na watu bado wako huku

(Garnering more calmness before answering…why would you be in church at 1pm with cake?๐Ÿ˜ท)

Myself: But you need time for setting up. We had agreed you would be here by 11am and it’s now 1pm

Aunty Nice: Nangoja nione bridal train wakimatch out of church then I come very fast

(๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ˜จ๐Ÿ˜จ I’m dumbfounded at that point)

ย Finally, the cake arrives just in the nick of time and although guests find the setup going on, at least it was a beauty so it covered up the embarrassmentย ๐Ÿ™ˆ

All goes on well, the guests get in as they serve food and pick their preferred sitting places. I would say, the morning prayers went straight to the throne because all was going as planned ‘bila swara mob’๐Ÿ˜Š

The reception was going on well with a very entertaining MC who kept the crowd laughing non-stop as they enjoyed the sumptuous meal prepared with so much love by a friend of the family.

On the other side of town, our lit bridal party was enjoying their photo shoot as they re-charged and prepared themselves for the best part of their big day.

Bride:You guys are taking too long with these photos, you’ll find me at the reception dancing๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿ™‹

At the reception, guests were also ready to get down๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ

The psyke from the bridal party was so extra, it rubbed off on the guests and within no time the whole crowd was up on their feet having the time of their lives.

There’s a reason this was myย party power coupleโ€ฆ. ‘see-for-yourself’

When it came to partying, this power couple A-ced it hands down. We even got an accident with the bride’s dress and with the emergency kit always on me, we fixed the hitch and they were back to dancing like nothing ever happened. I’m certain the only person who knew there was an issue was the bestlady ๐Ÿ˜‰ that’s our secret with SweetBrideC ๐Ÿ˜Š

All in all it was an amazing day, with amazing weather, an amazing team and amazing energy running throughout the day. For this, all praise, glory & honour goes to God my papa ๐Ÿ™‹

Thanks SweetBrideC and Mr.PartyJ for trusting us to plan and coordinate your big day. Wishing you a Marriage full of Life, Love & Laughter ๐Ÿ’–๐Ÿ’–ย
